BMW has officially confirmed that an electrically powered sports car from the M division will enter the market for the first time in 2021.
True, the Bavarians did not specify whether it was a pure electric car or a rechargeable hybrid.
The model name is also not disclosed. However, apparently, we are not talking about a sports version of an electric car like the iX M crossover or even more so the i3 M, but about an electrified sports car based on a standard car with an internal combustion engine.
At least the company said in a statement that the M division wants to offer customers a choice: buy a car with a powerful internal combustion engine or an electric drive.
Perhaps this is confirmation of rumors that BMW is preparing an all-electric version of the M5 sedan, which will be offered alongside the petrol variant.
Recall that such a car is supposedly planned to be equipped with a 135-kilowatt battery and electric all-wheel drive with a total capacity of 1020 hp. The electric sedan can accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in less than three seconds.
