In 2019, Microsoft announced the Windows 10X platform as a modular and lightweight version of Windows 10. The company later said that the OS will also support Win32 applications, but later said that the first versions of the system will be deprived of this feature due to difficulties in its implementation.
Now a new build of Windows 10X has leaked to the Web. It has shown that the new operating system can still be run with development tools for Win32 applications. According to the WindowsPhoneInfo report, the latest build of Windows 10X has a new setting that allows users to download “unsigned applications”, including Win32 programs>
This feature does not work now. The description of the parameter states: “Enabling this setting will allow you to run unsigned applications and use advanced development features. Allowing all apps to run on your device may harm your device or data. ” Keep in mind that simply enabling this option will not allow users to install and run regular desktop applications (.exe) in Windows 10X, which are expected to be released later this year. However, this means that Microsoft plans to add support for Win32 applications sometime in the future.
