The Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov said that in Ukraine, more than 30 health care institutions provide specialized and highly specialized medical care to children with malignant neoplasms.
“According to the latest data, annually the number of children who are diagnosed with a malignant neoplasm is about a thousand children. This indicator for malignant neoplasm in Ukraine is 14.7 per 100 thousand of the child population,” said the head of the Ministry of Health.
Stepanov said that in Ukraine more than 30 health care institutions provide specialized and highly specialized medical care to children with malignant neoplasms.
“The Ministry of Healthcare standardizes the provision of such assistance to children on the basis of international clinical protocols, taking into account the modern capabilities of the country and on the principles of evidence-based medicine. It was decided to combine the specialties” pediatric hematologist “and” pediatric oncologist “into a single specialty” pediatric hematologist-oncologist “, – added the minister.
