The representative of Ukrainian athletics Serhiy Nikiforov won the competitions in Istanbul.
In Istanbul, Nikiforov started the competition with an attempt of 7.84 m, and in the third landed at 8.01 m and a few steps closer to the standard for the European Indoor Championships (it is 8.05 m).
In addition, Ukrainian Olena Radyuk-Kyuchuk performed in Istanbul. She won the 200-meter dash (24.74 s) and finished second in the 400-meter dash (55.89 s).
“Serhiy is looking for tournaments where he could perform, show a high result and meet the standard for the European Indoor Championships. At the same time, he emphasizes arenas with hard surfaces. One of them is in Istanbul, ”said Vyacheslav Tyrtyshnyk, the head coach of the Ukrainian national track and field team.
At the first tournament of the season – “Christmas starts” in Kiev – Nikiforov won with a result of 7.92 m.
