The animal protection organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) urged not to compare people to animals, using these words as an insult. By doing so, people are trying to show that they are superior to “other species of animals”.
“Stand up for justice while rejecting slogans of superiority,” PETA’s message posted on Twitter said.
PETA proposed to replace “animal” curses with others not related to the animal world. So instead of “chicken” it is suggested to use the word “coward”, instead of “rat” – “snitch”, instead of “pig” – “repulsive”.
In response, the organization’s Twitter received over 5,000 likes and over 20,000 comments, with most commentators making fun of the idea of PETA.
“Congratulations on the dumbest tweet of 2021 and it’s only been 4 weeks. A real achievement, ” one of the detractors wrote.
