The Ukrainian Pension Forum by a professor at the Institute of Gerontology. Chebotaryova National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Vira Tchaikovska announced that 80% of single people or single elderly couples live below the poverty line.
According to her, 90% of retirees do not have the opportunity to pay for medical services: medicine, treatment, hospitalization.
“Every third elderly person does not seek medical help, having 5-6 chronic diseases,” Tchaikovsky said.
The aging process in Ukraine is proceeding at a rapid pace, says the professor. In turn, this was proved by a study by the Institute of Gerontology. It turned out that a person’s biological age is five years older than the passport age.
