As you already know, one of the largest instant messengers, WhatsApp, is going to change its privacy policy in the near future. However, the changes that will be made are strongly disliked by a huge number of users, and therefore the company really wants to keep its users from a hasty transition to competing messengers. And in order to convince its users that WhatsApp is very responsible for your privacy, the platform decided to move to the active stage.
To be more precise, as was first noticed by the authoritative edition in the person of The Verge, the above messenger now uses a variety of status messages, much better known as Stories, in order to emphasize its “commitment to your privacy.” So far, these “status messages” are displayed only for users of the messenger from the United States of America and Great Britain. But it’s also worth mentioning that a similar campaign to convince users has been carried out in India for some time now.
Now the company has decided to reach a more global audience. And by the way, her spokesman also said that WhatsApp will use statuses to directly convey the essence of all its updates “in the future”, along the way, confirming the company’s confidence in the “misinformation and confusion” that appeared after the publication of all the changes to its privacy policy. And if you do not know why users are rapidly turning away from this messenger, then many of them, having read the updated wording of the privacy policy, came to the conclusion that WhatsApp will share messages and other content with Facebook.
In turn, the service itself stated that neither Facebook nor the WhatsApp division itself can read messages. And although few people trust Facebook, even if these words are true, the damage has already been done – millions of disappointed users rushed to competing, in many ways more attractive messengers, namely Signal and Telegram. But in any case, using Stories could possibly help WhatsApp deal with the growing discontent by talking directly to users instead of making loud statements and pointing users to FAQs elsewhere.
