The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will change the usual format of the coronavirus pandemic, and three alternative scenarios are being considered.
Scenarios vary from the mildest to the hardest, but the organizers are not going to abandon the competition at all.
Currently, Option B is considered a priority – with a minimum of restrictions – performers perform on the competition stage, the arena is filled to 80%, all withstand a distance of 1.5 meters, 500 members of the press are present in the arena, another 1,000 – watch remotely.
If the situation with the coronavirus worsens, scenario C will be used – participants will act by video, the arena is filled to 80% with distance, the whole press – at a “distance”.
If things are really bad, plan D will be introduced – neither spectators nor performers gather in one place, everything takes place in a virtual format.
The final decision on the format of the competition will be made in the coming weeks.
Literally on the website of the song contest: “We have to abandon the usual scenario of holding the Eurovision Song Contest and consider three other potential options. We have three possible scenarios, and now we are choosing the one that will be optimal.”
Eurovision-2021 will be held in Rotterdam (Netherlands) from 18 to 22 May.
