American supermodel Gigi Hadid starred for the cover of the March issue of Vogue, and also gave an interview to the publication, in which she spoke about pregnancy and childbirth at home.
In particular, she admitted that she gave birth at her mother’s home in Pennsylvania, about 14 hours. Next to her was her partner Zane Malik, Yolanda’s mother, Bella’s sister, a local midwife, and her assistant. Zane took the child during the birth.
“I didn’t even realize she was already born. I was so exhausted that I looked up and saw him (Zane Malik – ed.) Holding her. It was so cute,” Gigi said in an interview.
Initially, the girl planned to give birth in a New York hospital, but then her decision was influenced by the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions on the number of people in the maternity ward, which would not allow Yolanda and Belle to be present. Then he and Zane watched the 2008 documentary Childbirth as a Business, which critically evaluates medical intervention and tells about successful home births.
“We both looked at each other and thought, I think that was the call,” says Gigi.
They put an inflatable tub of water in their room, kicked out all the cats, and when Zane asked if she wanted to listen, Gigi asked for a recording of her favorite children’s movie, The Indian in the Closet, which they watched in the early hours.
“It’s something we never talked about, but at that point, we found that we both love this movie,” said the model.
She also said that she gave birth without epidural anesthesia, but with the support of loved ones who were with her at the time. “I know my mom, Zane and Bella were proud of me, but at times I saw that each of them was shocked,” said the model.
The girl was born in the fall of 2020, she was named Hai, possibly abbreviated from Hairi. The Arabic name translates as “chosen”. The baby does not have a babysitter, and Gigi and Zane help Gigi to cope with everything.
