What will happen to the currency?
Experts told what will happen to the exchange rate in the coming years.
Against the backdrop of the pandemic, the economy began to change around the world, which, of course, affected the exchange rate. The journalists asked government experts about what the situation is predicted for the near future, it became known what the Ukrainians should prepare for.
The experts made a forecast for three years. There are only two scenarios – one is more positive, the second is negative. As a result, according to the forecast of government officials, according to a positive scenario around 2024, the dollar may be at around 28.8 hryvnias. If we consider the negative scenario, then here the American currency is even higher – 29.7 hryvnia.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the exchange rate of the hryvnia against the US dollar was 27.99 hryvnia as of February 4. Therefore, if the forecasts of the experts of the Ukrainian government come true exactly, then the devaluation of our currency should not exceed about seven percent.
Specialists from the government explained that among the factors that will greatly affect the exchange rate of the hryvnia is the cost of export and import goods. However, experts are convinced that the Ukrainian hryvnia can be supported thanks to foreign investments. In 2021 alone, such investments are expected to amount to $ 0.5-2 billion. If we talk about a three-year forecast, then by that time the numbers may rise to five billion.
Earlier the government has already said that they see no reason for a sharp devaluation of the hryvnia. On the contrary, many experts are confident that there is a chance for the Ukrainian hryvnia to strengthen.
