Diabetes mellitus remains one of the most important problems in medicine. This is a common disease in today’s reality, which leads, among other things, to damage to the vessels of the skin and soft tissues of the feet.
This condition is called diabetic foot syndrome. Late treatment leads to the appearance of ulcers and ends with amputation. Moreover, as a rule, one operation is not enough, and there are cases when the leg is cut off in parts almost to the groin.
It should be remembered that preventing diabetes complications is not that difficult. Keeping diabetes under control can lead to sustained remission.
Diabetic neuropathy occurs due to high blood sugar. Most often, signs of this condition appear on the legs.
Take a closer look at the feet – the skin on them becomes thick, rough, very dry, deep cracks and ulcers may appear on them. All this causes discomfort and pain, an unpleasant odor appears, the skin changes color.
Signs of high glucose levels are also numbness, tingling or burning, and seizures. If you notice something like this – do not delay, take a sugar test.
Endocrinologist Mikhail Antsiferov recommends that patients with diabetes mellitus protect themselves from coronavirus infection by being vaccinated. According to him, people with such a diagnosis are more difficult to tolerate many diseases, because they have a higher risk of a severe course of COVID-19.
