The oldest wooden church of Saint Nicholas, built 550 years ago, in Transcarpathia will be converted into a museum.
According to Uhlani community head Ivan Nimesh, an extraordinary session will be held in Ohl within a week and a decision will be made to establish a museum in the church.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Culture in the Regional State Administration of Transcarpathia will prepare accounting documents and apply for the inclusion of the church in Kolodny in the State Register of Antiquities.
“The first priority actions to close the church so that it does not collapse reach about 2.5 million hryvnias,” said Deputy Director of the Culture Department of the Transcarpathia State Administration, Mykola Kozelny.
Deputy Zakarpattia Regional Council Deputy Ivan Sentar said: “The temple restoration project can be submitted for grants and sectoral programs, funded by the State Fund for Regional Development and the“ Great Restoration ”program. A number of grant projects are to be established on the basis of the Local Regional Development Agency, which will help restore the church.
