Jordan is heading to tighten restrictions after a record toll of Coronavirus cases.
The government spokesman said in a press conference that “it has been decided to extend the night curfew hours to seven in the evening until six in the morning (instead of ten at night until six in the morning) starting next Saturday.”
He added, “It has also been decided to close public parks, night clubs, bars, discos, indoor swimming pools, centers, academies, sports clubs, oriental baths, and equestrian clubs until the end of this month.”
It was also decided to “suspend the holding of Friday prayers and mass Sunday.”
The government spokesman indicated that “restaurants on duty are allowed to operate, with delivery service after seven o’clock in the evening.”
For his part, the Minister of Interior said during the conference, “We are now recording 4 cases of corona every minute and we hold a funeral every 20 minutes because of this epidemic that claimed the lives of loved ones, most of them elderly, and the enemy was transferred to them from their children.”
For his part, the Minister of Health confirmed during the conference that “the prevalence of the new (British) strain of Coronavirus has reached more than 70% compared to the original strain.”
“We are going through a delicate epidemiological situation, and this month of March will be difficult for all of us,” he said.
For weeks, Jordan has witnessed an increase in the number of injuries, and the Kingdom recorded 60 deaths and 6649 new injuries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of injuries to 448851 cases and 5106 deaths.
Last Wednesday, Jordan decided to re-impose a curfew on Fridays.
Since last March, Jordan has taken a number of measures to limit the spread of the epidemic in the country by imposing a night curfew throughout the Kingdom, whose dates change according to the epidemiological situation and the number of injuries.
Universities and schools were also closed before distance education was adopted for most educational levels, while weddings and funeral councils were prohibited.
Jordan has also required its citizens to wear masks in markets and public places and to impose fines on violators, which it has recently tightened.
