Today, the head of the NGO “Association of Shepherds of Ukraine” farmer Vasyl Stefurak, manages the mountain village of Molodyatyn, Kolomyia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region said that state support to legal entities for the purchase of breeding animals (50% of their value) for 2020 was paid on time and in full.

“The government has done everything. They listened to us, understood us, gave us compensation – we are moving on. We do not just ask the state for money – we give good results. Last year, we shepherd farmers used this tool. And we have increased the number of livestock, ”he commented.
For breeding ewes, rams, bright, you could get up to 11,000 UAH per head. In general, over the last year, shepherds have increased exports by 100% in the number of heads, and in monetary terms – by 270%.
In his opinion, the Khmelnytsky region worked best. Mr. Stefurak gave an example: two years ago there were only 80 sheep in the Shepetivka district. And on January 1, 2021, in the same area, we already have 17,000 heads.
“However, according to expert estimates, the sheep population in Ukraine as a whole decreased by about 5% during the year compared to the previous year. Allegedly opposite trends: livestock is declining and sales are growing? Mr. Stefurak believes that everything is explained simply. Because shepherds sell inefficient animals, cut them, and instead cultivate high-quality breeds that give good profits, ”Stefurak sums up.
