The All-Ukrainian Chekhov Fest Theater Festival began in Sumy on Saturday, March 13.
This year’s festival, which will last until June 6, will be stretched in time due to quarantine restrictions, and the number of performances and spectators will decrease.
The festival opened with a performance of Sumy National Academic Drama and Musical Comedy Theater. MS Shchepkin. The audience was introduced to Roman Kozak’s drama “Per Gunt” based on the play by Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen.
A week later, on March 20, Ivano-Frankivsk Academic Music and Drama Theater. I. Franko will show the play “Three Sisters” directed by Rostislav Derzhypilsky based on the play of the same name by Anton Chekhov.
On March 26, the Kyiv Academic Drama and Comedy Theater on the left bank of the Dnieper will present the work of director Oleksiy Lisovets “Corsican” about Napoleon, who is in exile, and Josephine.
On March 27, the Sumy Regional Theater for Children and Youth will present the premiere of a comedy based on the play by French writer Emile Zola’s “Heirs of Raburden”, directed by People’s Artist of Ukraine Oleksandra Sokol.
On March 28, the Sumy Nyankin Theater will present the ghost play The Chekhov Brothers, created in the genre of immersive theater when the audience is immersed in the atmosphere of the action. The production is based on the works of Anton Chekhov and the play “Brothers” by the North African playwright Reza de Vet.
On May 14 and 15, the play “The Forest” by Alexander Ostrovsky will be presented by the National Academic Theater. Ivan Franko. The director is Dmytro Bohomazov, and the main roles are played by People’s Artists of Ukraine Natalia Sumska and Anatoliy Hostikoyev.
On June 6, the Kyiv National Academic Young Theater based on R. Tom’s play “Eight Women” will show the comedy “Kill or Love” directed by Maria Lukyanova. Among the famous actresses involved in the production are Irma Vitovska and Lilia Rebryk.
