Beijing Capital Airport (Shoudu) and Daxing International Airport Monday canceled 428 flights due to a sandstorm that covered the city.

According to the agency, 1,141 flights are planned at the capital’s Beijing airport today, 247 of which have been canceled. 846 flights were scheduled at Dasin Airport, of which 181 were canceled.
A sandstorm hit Beijing on Monday morning. The concentration of fine solid particles in some areas of the capital exceeded 8 thousand micrograms per cubic meter, which is 160 times higher than the maximum allowable norm of the World Health Organization (WHO), set at 50 micrograms / cubic meter.
The sandstorm led to traffic jams, visibility in the city does not exceed 1 thousand m. Beijing authorities have declared a yellow level of danger due to the dust storm, recommended to cancel outdoor activities, as well as without urgency not to go outside.
According to meteorologists, the storm will last until Tuesday morning.
