The Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy expects that the Verkhovna Rada will adopt a law this year, according to which a zero value-added tax rate will be applied to domestic air passenger and cargo transportation services.
He stated this during a conversation with the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the parliament Vasyl Mokan.
“Bill 2425 provides for the abolition of VAT. We are discussing with the Ministry of Finance, with the Committee on Financial and Tax Policy. In fact, I expect that this year we will remove this incomprehensible barrier,” he said.
He also noted that the Cabinet is now looking for a source through which it plans to provide assistance to domestic carriers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
“All European countries, without exception, helped their airlines in various ways – by deferral, bought shares, gave interest-free loans, issued non-repayable financial assistance, and we did not find sources. Therefore, it is very important that we find any source to show that aviation is not secondary for us, it is an important priority area, “he said
On February 4, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced that the Cabinet of Ministers was developing mechanisms to support the domestic aviation industry.
In December 2020, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) called on President Volodymyr Zelensky to instruct the government to develop a program of action to provide the company with repayable financial assistance (loans or stabilization loans) to pay salaries to employees.
On February 16, 2021, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal promised Ukrainians access to cheap flights.
