In Ukraine, according to expert data, about 25-30% of seeds do not meet the proper quality. This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
“This is either counterfeit (products sold in violation of intellectual property rights) or counterfeit (products made in violation of technology or by copying the form, packaging, as well as illegal reproduction of another person’s goods),” – said in a statement.
The most common causes of counterfeiting today are the replacement of hybrids and the replacement of one variety with another, with lower quality indicators. It was also found that about 73% of domestic farmers can not independently identify counterfeit seeds. It is noted that the use of counterfeit and falsified seeds for sowing can lead to a loss of up to a quarter of the crop.
The State Food and Consumer Service recommends buying seeds from official distributors and emphasizes that each batch of seeds for sale must be accompanied by certificates, and the producer must be entered in the State Register with the declared number of seeds for sale.
