Structural components of the model curriculum, its content, and the procedure for granting the stamp – this is stated in the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for potential authors and compilers of model curricula for basic secondary education.
Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – March 25, 2021 – Education
On February 19, 2021, the Standard Educational Program for grades 5-9 of the New Ukrainian School was approved. The document contains, in particular, a list of model training programs. The Ministry of Education and Science invites potential authors to join their development.
Model curriculum – a document that defines the approximate sequence of achieving the expected learning outcomes, the content of the subject or integrated course, and the types of educational activities of students. Such a program is developed on the basis of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education.
In order for the model training project to be considered for the stamp, the following documents must be submitted to the Institute for Modernization of the Content of Education by April 30, 2021:
application letter, in which to indicate the name of the project of the model curriculum, authors, their places of work, positions, scientific degrees, academic ranks (if any), contact phone number, and e-mail;
two copies of the project in paper form, as well as an electronic version in pdf format on disk or flash drive;
other documents at the request of the applicant.
In accordance with the Procedure for providing stamps to educational literature and curricula, proposals for stamping model curricula are submitted by expert commissions on the basis of the conclusions of a comprehensive examination. The final decision on granting the stamp is made by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The draft model curriculum should contain the following mandatory structural components.
Introductory part – an explanatory note, which defines the main provisions on the role and importance of the subject or integrated course: its purpose, objectives, principles, teaching priorities, structure, ways of implementing the program, and features of the educational process.
The main part, which outlines the approximate sequence of achieving the expected learning outcomes of students by years of study, offers the content of the subject or integrated course and types of educational activities.
The final part is added as needed. It can offer forms of assessment of learning outcomes, use of learning tools, additional components, and more.
If the model curriculum implements only part of the compulsory learning outcomes in a particular field of education, it should, where possible, contain links to other programs, in combination with which it will cover all results in this field. All recommendations for authors can be found by calling on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science.
It will be recalled that the key tasks for 2021 for the Ministry of Education and Science are to continue the reform of the New Ukrainian School and further digitalization.
