Gabe Newell recently said that Valve has planned to release a gaming device that will read brain activity. This device will be connected to a neurocomputer interface that will be used in future games.
He also said that this device will read brain signals in high resolution and will be used in VR headsets. Gabe Newell reports that this will improve gaming capabilities, because thanks to the brain, it will be possible to create much more interesting and complex gaming experiences.
“The visual experience we will be able to create will be much better than the reality itself, which will cease to be a metric for conveying the quality of visual accuracy. The real world will seem flat, colorless, and vague compared to what can be created in the human brain, “- concluded Newell.
It is unknown at this time when such devices will go on sale, as development is in an active phase. According to Gabe Newell, the first applications for such devices will be sleep tracking and sleep quality control. Everyone will be able to choose how much sleep they need and how long the active phase of sleep should last.
Perhaps in the next few years, we will see the first working prototypes of this device.
