Basketball players of “Dnipro” defeated the Swiss “Friborg” in the first match in the FIBA European Cup – 62:57.
The first quarter passed in an equal fight, which was reflected on the scoreboard – 14:14. In the first quarter, there was an equal team game – 3 assists against 3, but in the second quarter, the figures changed – 8 to 4. This resulted in the fact that “Friborg” took the lead – 28:26.
After the break, Denis Zhuravlyov’s wards were able to breakthrough. They fired 7 shots of “paint” from 13 attempts, while opponents 5 from 11. Maxim Zakurdayev, Vyacheslav Bobrov, Vyacheslav Kravtsov, Stanislav Timofeenko, Issuf Sanon, Anatoly Shundel, and Maxim Kornienko tried. Thanks to their points, “Dnipro” led +4.
In the final part, the Ukrainians were able to maintain their advantage. Accurate “shots” of Sanon, Kravtsov, Glebov, Shundel, a great game under the shields from Timofeenko and Terrell allowed “Dnipro” to win the first match of the FIBA European Cup – 62:57.
In Dnipro, Sanon scored 14 points, Timofeenko scored 11, Kravtsov added 8, and Kornienko added six.
The fourth team, the British “London Lyons”, was not allowed to compete due to the threat of spreading the coronavirus. Therefore, in the second and final match of the group stage, Dnipro will play against Polish Anvil.
