Viktor Yanukovych, the fugitive president, signed the so-called “Kharkiv Agreements” and gave the Russian Federation the opportunity to increase its military contingent in Ukraine. He was reported by law enforcement officers on suspicion of treason. The official is accused of violating the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine.
Viktor Yanukovych assisted Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine. In April 2010, the suspect, while in the city of Kharkiv, artificially created conditions for increasing the number of the Russian military contingent in the Crimea. He signed a document that provided for the extension of the stay of the Russian Black Sea Fleet for 25 years.
Investigators found that initially the Russian Federation artificially created and gradually accumulated Ukraine’s debt for the supply of natural gas. By such actions, the Russians virtually deployed their Black Sea Fleet free of charge. Since February 20, 2014, the Russian Black Sea Fleet has conducted a large-scale operation to invade the territory of the Crimean Peninsula and occupy the peninsula.
