The fifth President of Ukraine, the leader of European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko, congratulated the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius, on his birthday and the anniversary of his enthronement.

It was on his birthday that His Beatitude was elevated to the throne of Kyiv as the first Primate of the local Orthodox Church of Ukraine. In times of hardship for our country, Metropolitan Epiphanius became a true ascetic who worthily carries the word of God to Ukrainians around the world. I am glad that Ukraine has such spiritual leaders who lead, sow faith in the Lord, faith in justice, and faith in Ukraine. And you, Your Beatitude, are one of them.
Thanks to our joint efforts, the prayers of the Ukrainian people, Ukraine received a Tomos on autocephaly – spiritual independence. Therefore, on this day, I sincerely wish you strength and wisdom in performing responsible service, understanding, and support from the entire Ukrainian Orthodox community, long and good years to create a life mission for the benefit of Ukraine and the people! May the Orthodox Church of Ukraine grow stronger and gain the recognition of world Orthodoxy under your wise leadership, ”Petro Poroshenko wrote.
