Ukraine will apply sanctions against a number of members of the Verkhovna Rada in the near future. This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov on the air of the Freedom of Speech program with Savik Shuster.
“I am sure that in the near future, sanctions will continue to be imposed against certain categories of persons, both individuals, and legal entities. Moreover, I can say with confidence that there will be a number of deputies who are sitting in the Verkhovna Rada today. We already have more than enough arguments to introduce them, ”Danilov said.
On February 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the NSDC decision on sanctions against television channels from the orbit of the godfather of Russian President Putin, People’s Deputy of OPSZ Viktor Medvedchuk. The Kremlin predictably condemned these sanctions. The Office of the President of Ukraine explained that the sanctions against the MP Taras Kozak and three channels controlled by Viktor Medvedchuk are not an encroachment on the freedom of speech, but exclusively a fight against alien propaganda. The basis for sanctions against Kozak and related legal entities was an investigation by the special services, which found that schemes with the supply of coal from the occupied territories contribute to the financing of terrorism.
Aleksey Danilov said that the imposition of sanctions against MP Taras Kozak and TV channels from the sphere of influence of Putin’s godfather Viktor Medvedchuk had been preparing for almost 8 months.
