In Ukraine, the payment for gas distribution (the so-called monthly fee) may be revised downward if the price of blue fuel itself drops in the summer.
This was stated at the Ukraine 30 forum on February 15 by the head of the National Commission for Energy and Utilities (NKREKU) Valeriy Tarasyuk. The performance was broadcast on the event’s official YouTube channel. “There was a lot of noise on this issue. But I want to note that the tariff for gas distribution cannot be increased or decreased at will. We are talking about establishing specific components of tariffs,” Tarasyuk explained.
The subscription fee consists of:
50% – the cost of process gas (5.8 UAH per cubic meter);
30% – salaries (on average UAH 14 thousand);
20% – repairs, maintenance of dispatch services.
“If the gas tariff is reduced in the summer, we can revise the tariff. We are gladly ready to revise the tariff downward,” Tarasyuk says.
The gas distribution system is designed for 100 billion cubic meters of gas. At the same time, the system itself is used only for a quarter, for a year – 20-25 billion cubic meters of gas. It needs to be rebuilt, and this requires huge investments.
