The problem of redeployment of the military unit A2755, located in the city of Dubno in the Rivne region, has become very popular – not only in the city and region but also at the national level.
Many Dubna residents and members of their families reacted negatively to the probable “relocation” of the military unit. Arguments against such relocation to the uninhabited and unsuitable territory were also discussed at the session of the Rivne Regional Council, which adopted an appeal to the President, the relevant Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Defense, the answer to which is still unknown.
Vasyl Antonyuk, the mayor of Dubna, also addressed the above-mentioned higher institutions of the state (his appeal was also published in the newspaper Golos Ukrainy on January 27, 2021 – “The position of the Dubna mayor on the redeployment of the military unit”). In it, community leader Vasyl Antonyuk (pictured) gave strong arguments against such redeployment, and also explained: “I, as the head of the local self-government body, the leader, for whom almost six thousand people from Dubno, including the military, voted, simply cannot remain silent and not intervene. And I call on all indifferent citizens, deputies of all levels to it. I understand that the military should follow orders, not discuss or comment on them. But the community has such rights. And she has to knock on high offices so that her voice can be heard, to stand up for her defenders because they are the same people as us. And they, and especially members of their families, must also have all the conditions for a normal life.”
The Office of the President of Ukraine responded to the Appeal of the Mayor of Dubno Vasyl Antonyuk to prevent the re-registration and redeployment of the military unit A2755, located in the city of Dubno.
- A letter from the Office of the President of Ukraine states that “the appeal was sent for consideration in accordance with the competence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The city authorities will be additionally informed about further decisions on this issue, “Dubno Mayor Vasyl Antonyuk said. – We hope that the Ministry of Defense will take into account all our arguments and still leave the military unit in our city of Dubno.
