Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – February 16, 2021 – Education
The Ministry of Education and Science, together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and with the participation of international partners from the SeeD Center, has developed an interactive guide “School in a pandemic” for managers and teams of general secondary and vocational education.
The interactive guide is available on call.
“This online tool will help managers and educators assess the institution’s readiness to address the challenges associated with COVID-19. The recommendations, advice and ideas included in the Guide will help institutions to effectively ensure continuing quality and inclusive education in times of crisis, taking care of the safety, physical and emotional health of students, “said the Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Digital Development and digitization Artur Seletsky.

The guide was created by international experts taking into account existing domestic recommendations and using materials from UNICEF, WHO and other international organizations. The development also took into account the information provided by educational institutions in previous surveys conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science.
“The global pandemic has exacerbated the challenges of social inequality and has made it more difficult to access quality education services for the most vulnerable in the world. Therefore, during the development of the guide, special attention was paid to creating a safe educational environment and ensuring fair access to quality inclusive education for every child, “said Lotta Silvander, Head of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine.
The guide also provides a thematic survey of managers and teachers on the work of institutions in a pandemic. The answers to the questionnaire will help to clarify the existing needs of institutions, effectively plan support, improve public policy to respond to the challenges of the pandemic and minimize its negative impact on the educational process.
The developer advises to involve colleagues, including deputy principals, school psychologists, social educators and teachers. In this way, the teaching staff will be able to provide additional information and valuable feedback.
To discuss protection against infectious diseases and vaccination with parents or in the teaching staff, educators are advised to involve medical professionals who will answer questions about vaccinations and destroy common myths.
