Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – February 16, 2021 – Society
This year, the European Union plans to launch two projects to combat misinformation in Ukraine.
This was stated by Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Remy Duflo at the international online seminar “Countering Disinformation: European Approaches and Standards”.
The diplomat noted that misinformation can be detrimental to any society, as it can be used as a form of influencing open societies and their democratic institutions.
“The European Union supports Ukraine in its fight against misinformation. We will continue to do so, “Duflo said.
According to him, it is necessary to strengthen the response to cyberattacks, as well as increase the level of media literacy. In this context, the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation reminded that the European Union is implementing a project in Ukraine for 2 million euros, aimed at improving the fight against misinformation.
“This year we will have two new projects. Within the first, we will study the image of Ukraine in individual countries, and the second – to explore how views are formed in areas east of the contact line, “said Duflo.
He added that, in addition, the European Union also plans to launch a project later this year to support countering disinformation at the local level.
