The National Gallery of Art Victoria (NGV), in Melbourne, will display a unique sculpture by Ukrainian-American artist Alexander Arkiybenko.
“I encourage everyone to visit the second floor of the National Gallery of Victoria, as there is a unique sculpture on display until April 18th,” said the Director of the Ukrainian-Australian Museum and Architect Marusia Yarotska. It is a statue of Ukrainian Oleksandr Arkhenko.
Archipenko’s work is also displayed in the Contemporary Art Gallery every three years in the International Sculpture Department on the second floor of the Gallery building. And the “Silhouette” was created by Archipenko in 1910 in the artistic direction of “Cubism”. In which the human body is depicted in schematic and three-dimensional forms and lines close to complete abstraction.
