A magnitude 6.1 earthquake was recorded on the Kuril island of Shikotan, the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Sakhalin region.

“At 08:22 (23:22 on March 2, Kyiv time) On March 3, an earthquake was registered 108 kilometers east of the village of Malokurilskoye, South Kuril region (Shikotan). The magnitude of the seismological event was 6.1, ”the Ministry of Emergencies said.
According to experts, the hearth lay at a depth of 50 km. The earthquake was felt by residents of the Kuril and South Kuril districts. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage. The tsunami alert was not announced, the agency said.
