Competition in the world market of frozen raspberries is very high. Poland’s main competitors are Serbia, Chile, and Bosnia, and Herzegovina. At the same time, Polish producers are afraid of competition from Ukraine, which has significantly increased exports of frozen raspberries over the past few years.

Professor of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Food Industry of Poland Bozhena Nosetska notes that currently, the export of Ukrainian frozen berries is much lower than that of world producers, but among them, there is no such large and rapid growth of raspberry production as in the case of Ukraine.
Thus, from January to September 2017, exports of frozen raspberries from Ukraine amounted to 9 thousand tons. For the same period in 2018 – 10 thousand tons, in 2019 – 12 thousand tons, and in 2020 Ukraine exported 21 thousand tons of frozen raspberries. For comparison, from January to September 2020, exports of Serbian frozen raspberries amounted to 183 thousand tons, Poland exported 67 thousand tons, Chile – 55 thousand tons, Bosnia and Herzegovina – 23 thousand tons.
“It shows how serious a competitor Ukraine is. Moreover, such a trend of increasing berry exports is the state plan of Ukraine for the development of berry crops. I think that not only we but also Serbia are afraid of competition with Ukraine, “Nosetska added.
