The national team of Ukraine defeated the team of the hosts of the competition at the qualifying tournament for the 2021 World Cup in Luxembourg (28:21).

With the exception of the starting minutes, the Ukrainians were ahead in the score throughout the game. However, as in the starting match of the tournament against Slovakia (28:31), the “yellow-blue” team again made mistakes due to the lack of play of the updated squad. After a more difficult first half (14:12), the “blue-yellows” still managed to increase their lead in the second half and confidently brought the match to victory.
Midfielder Iryna Kompaniets, left winger Vlada Belmas, and Tetyana Polyak, who helps to close the line position, scored 5 goals each. Again, the most productive was Lesya Smalling – 8 goals.
The national team of Slovakia, which defeated Israel in the second round (37:19), secured the first place and exit from the group ahead of schedule.
Ukraine and Israel will play the second ticket to the playoffs on the last day of qualifying. Teams have 2 points each, but the Ukrainians have the best goal difference. So the winning or draw result will be a pass to the playoffs for Boris Chizhov’s team.
