The wedding date must be adjusted to the calendar
The Japanese are preparing for the wedding in a year. This is due to their meticulousness and the Buddhist calendar of Roque. According to him, wedding ceremonies should be held on the days of the “great world” of Tai’an. These days are slippery and can fall on Tuesday or Thursday. Therefore, the bride and groom hunt for Saturday’s Tajan and book a restaurant in advance. The latter, by the way, especially raise menu prices these days.

There is no such phenomenon in Ukrainian culture, but there are Orthodox fasts in which the clergy do not advise marrying.
The bride and groom order clothes for relatives
A traditional Japanese wedding kimono is not cheap. Therefore, it is often rented. Ukrainian girls also rent dresses in salons. But, as a rule, the bride’s wedding dress is paid for either by her parents or the groom. And after the bride has decided on a dress, dresses for others are selected. In Japan, things are a little different.
Here, too, the principle works – “who did not have time was late”, so order a kimono must also be made in advance. But you need to order clothes not only for yourself. Parents, sisters, brothers must also be dressed in uniform: mom in a black kimono with gold ornaments downstairs, Dad – in a tailcoat, sisters in a kimono, and brothers or in a men’s khamo Hakama, or in tailcoats. Therefore, you need to go to the salon altogether.
Japanese brides do not wear a veil
Today, many Ukrainian brides refuse to wear a veil, and Japanese women have never had one. Instead, the girls wear special traditional hats “Vatabosi” and “Tsunokakusi”. They look quite original. And their significance is even more interesting.

Gifts for guests
In Ukraine, only newlyweds receive gifts on their wedding day. And lately, guests are increasingly making their choice in favor of envelopes with . In Japan, those invited to the event follow the same scheme and quite decent amounts in envelopes allow you to recoup the banquet.
But only from Japanese wedding guests go not empty-handed, but with small personal gifts. They are prepared by the newlyweds for each of those present at the wedding separately. It can be a box of sweets, and something more important.
The wedding takes place without dancing
Energetic dances of guests and waltzing newlyweds – the usual picture for a Ukrainian wedding. However, on the Japanese holiday on the occasion of starting a family, dancing is not accepted at all. Also, there is no host, no DJ, no entertainment shows, and more. Toasts are pronounced by guests strictly in turn in the schedule which is made in advance and sent together with invitations.
No honeymoon
There are legends about the efficiency and responsibility of the Japanese. They work a lot and have little rest. But what is really shocking is the lack of a honeymoon for the newlyweds. They do not even take a 2-week vacation, as is practiced by Ukrainian couples, for example, to establish a common life.
“The most interesting thing is that it is rare for the Japanese to take a vacation after a wedding. No honeymoon. On Monday, everyone goes to work as if nothing had happened. Only with a wedding ring on hand,” says Polina.
As for wedding rings, the Japanese excelled in this. The bride buys a wedding ring for her future husband, and he, in turn, pays for the wedding ring for her. Everything is equal.
