Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – March 27, 2021 – Local News
It should be noted that Zelensky’s decision revoked the decree appointing Tupytsky a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, which was signed in May 2013 by then-President Viktor Yanukovych.
In addition, he revoked the decree of September 17, 2013, on the appointment of another judge of the CCU – Alexander Kasminin.
The decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky states that the decision was made because “certain judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, appointed by Viktor Yanukovych, continue to exercise their powers, pose a threat to state independence and national security of Ukraine.”
The decree comes into force on the day of its publication – on March 27, 2021.
On December 29 last year Zelensky by decree dismissed the chairman of the Constitutional Court for a period of two months. Among the reasons – Tupytsky is not only involved in one of the criminal cases but also, according to the DBR, gave false testimony and tried to bribe a witness.
The head of the Constitutional Court did not come to the Prosecutor General’s Office for interrogation, and after the Supreme Court refused to appeal the presidential decree, he went on vacation to a five-star hotel in the UAE. And after that, I tried to get to work several times.
The new judge of the CCU, Viktor Kichun, appointed by the Verkhovna Rada, took the oath.
