Since last year, Google has been working on making it possible to perform translations in the Google Lens app without an internet connection. And now this function has become available to all users. In order to use it, you just need to download the necessary language packs to your smartphone.
Offline translation works similarly to the online version of the service. As usual, users can point their phone camera at road signs and other signs in a foreign language and receive a translation in real-time. However, if during online translation the user could copy any part of the translated text, in the offline version only the entire text can be copied. In any case, the new opportunity will appeal to travel lovers, whose cellular does not offer mobile Internet in roaming, or its cost is too high.
To use the function offline translation, users need to download the latest version of Google Lens. It’s worth noting that earlier this month, the app passed the half-billion-download threshold from the Google Play store.
