Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – February 02, 2021 – Economy
Ukraine has started negotiations with the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the creation of a specialized financial court. Now Ukraine and the IMF are in the active stage of negotiations.
“The purpose of such a court could be to hear disputes over bank loans in order to cope with the increase in the number of unpaid loans. The court should protect lenders who, in practice, have no other opportunity to recover their funds due to the current corruption-ridden legal system, and reduce the percentage of unpaid loans to 24% by 2023 from the current 42%, ”said the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Kirill Shevchenko.
According to him, this should attract foreign private investors to Ukraine.
“The volume of loans in the banking system is more than 1 trillion hryvnias or about 40 billion dollars. This is a large amount to be protected. Now the possibility of creating in Ukraine either a separate specialized court or a specialized chamber of an existing court is being discussed, ”Shevchenko explained.
