Coinciding with the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Croatia, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Croatia was opened in the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Levene Yenin.
The ceremony was attended by Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Andrei Bochuk, Croatia’s Ambassador to Ukraine Anika Djamic, and representatives of local authorities.
During his speech, which he had on this occasion, Yenin said, “Croatia has always supported and strongly supports the Ukrainian-European and European-Atlantic aspirations, condemns the Russian aggression against Ukraine, and helps restore the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state from here. We greatly appreciate that.”
According to the deputy minister, the honorary consulate of Croatia in Ivano-Frankivsk will deepen the mutually beneficial relations between Ukraine and Croatia in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, culture, education and science.
The Deputy Minister also expressed his confidence that thanks to the active work of Honorary Consul Vitaly Zapokhlyak, Ukraine and Croatia will be able to increase bilateral trade and attract new investments.
As a reminder, in addition to Ivano-Frankivsk, Croatia also has an honorary consulate in Svyatohirsk, from where it was temporarily transferred from Donetsk.
During the nine months of 2020, bilateral trade in goods between Ukraine and Croatia reached 61.4 million US dollars. Exports amounted to 21.3 million dollars and imports 40 million dollars.
