Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov spoke about his possible promotion to the post of Prime Minister. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that only those who won the elections to the Verkhovna Rada can have the prime minister’s ambitions.

According to him, he has no right to make claims for the post of the prime minister, since he is not the winner of the parliamentary elections. Avakov also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not offer him the post of head of the Cabinet.
Journalist Natalya Mosiychuk said that today many are predicting Avakov’s office as prime minister, to which the minister replied that he has no claims to this post since his party is not represented in parliament.
He recalled that the parliamentary elections were won by the party of President Zelensky. It is the winner of the elections, according to Avakov, who should determine the candidacy of the prime minister.
Avakov called his work as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs a red-hot frying pan but noted that he is a statesman and finds motivation.
Arsen Avakov has been holding the post of Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for 7 years since his appointment to this post after the victory of the Maidan and the flight of Yanukovych in February 2014.
During Avakov’s tenure in this position, two presidents and four prime ministers were replaced in Ukraine. After Vladimir Zelensky came to power, Arsen Avakov remained the only minister from the previous government who retain Zelensky his post, although many predicted his resignation due to the president’s promises to completely renew the government.
