“You can’t eradicate the negative that the tax police has taken on. A new body and a new model of work organization must change the situation. As for corruption, why does it exist? When salaries are at the level of 10-15 thousand hryvnias, there is a great temptation to receive a bribe of 10, 20, and more thousand dollars. I set a task not to hide any corruption facts. I believe that such people should be punished if they have committed corruption crimes, “the head of the service said.
Vadym Melnyk claims that the new service should create competitive working conditions: salaries, bonuses, social package.
“When your salary is, conditionally, 60 thousand hryvnias, the temptation to take a bribe of 20 thousand dollars may remain, but it is not so strong. The risks of losing everything are too great: a proper salary, but also peace of mind, ”the official said.
Vadym Melnyk assesses the creation of the Economic Security Bureau as the only body that will be engaged in economic investigations as the right decision, which will form a comprehensive approach to ensuring the country’s economic security.
“This body will be based on a certain model of the organization of activities, which was not in other bodies. BEB from the very beginning will build work in this direction systematically and comprehensively, in others, as a rule, it was selective. If we move away from the concept of creating a single body to combat economic crimes and instead create similar units in other bodies, it will again lead to a certain imbalance in this direction. Only a systematic integrated approach can eradicate these phenomena. Therefore, I absolutely support the idea of creating one body and I consider this decision to be the right one, “Vadym Melnyk said.
It will be recalled that the SFS will be liquidated within six months from the date of signing by the President of the Law “On the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine”.
