And as shown by the study of age-related eye diseases (AREDS), certain nutrients such as zinc, copper, vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene may reduce the risk of age deterioration by 25%.
Scientists have found that certain combinations of nutrients may work more effectively than others.
This is how it became known that omega-3 fatty acids, copper, lutein, and zeaxanthin are vital for eye health. There are a number of foods that have a positive effect on eye health.
List of products useful for eyesight:
- oily fish (omega-3): tuna, salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, herring. Fish is worth eating for those who spend a lot of time at the computer. Omega-3 helps fight dry eyes;
- nuts (omega-3, vitamin E). Protect eyes from age-related damage;
- legumes (omega-3, vitamin E);
- seeds (omega-3, vitamin E): chia, flax, hemp;
- citrus fruits (vitamin C). Useful to combat age-related eye lesions;
Leafy green vegetables (lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamin C): spinach cabbage; kale;
- carrots (vitamin A, beta-carotene);
- sweet potatoes or yams;
- blueberries (antioxidants, vitamins A, C, B and PP, lutein). Blueberries are only healthy when fresh; frozen blueberries are ineffective. The substances that are in it increase visual acuity, relieve eye fatigue and sharpen night vision. It is very useful for pilots, chauffeurs, programmers;
