American director James Gunn has published two new posters for the upcoming film “The Suicide Squad: The Suicide Squad”, which is an independent sequel to the film of the same name in 2016.

Suicide Squad: Mission Navilit, the tenth DC Expanded Universe film, will face the daunting task of rehabilitating the failure of the first installment, which was spread by both critics and fans who expected much more from the film. In fact, the attempt to gather a team of supervillains in one film, played by top Hollywood actors – Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, and others – turned out to be a tedious mess, with faceless characters with low motivation.
As a result, the second film got a new director – the director of the first part of David Eyre, who voluntarily left the post, in the sequel was replaced by James Gunn. Yes, the one that has had a very productive collaboration with DC’s direct competitors is Marvel Studious. In particular, Gunn has staged two very successful parts of The Guardians of the Galaxy and is currently working on the third part of the franchise. Also on his account is directing work on the more dubious “Thor 2: Kingdom of Darkness” and work on the script of the epic “Avengers: Infinity War.”
The cast is led by Margot Robbie, who returned to the role of Harley Quinn, as well as Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, Sylvester Stallone, and Viola Davis. But the participation of Jared Leto, who played the Joker in the first film, has not yet been confirmed. Therefore, the maximum that fans can expect is a modest cameo, and that’s not a fact. It is also unknown whether Will Smith will return to the role of Deadshot because from the very beginning his participation in the film was questioned due to problems with the filming schedule. Smith was even initially wanted to be replaced by Idris Elba, but eventually the latter got a new role – Bladsport, thus giving Smith the opportunity to return to the role of Deadshot.
The plot of the picture is not fully disclosed, but from what is known, it can be concluded that the villains imprisoned in Belle Riv prison will go as members of Task Force X to the South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy Jotunheim prison and a Nazi-era laboratory that housed political prisoners and conducted experiments.
The release of the film in cinemas is scheduled for August 6, 2021. At the same time, Warner Bros. Pictures will launch a paid screening of the film for a month on the streaming service HBO Max.
